It depends on which side of the city line you sit on, and it trips up a lot of owners. Charleston County’s Zoning and Land Development Regulations apply only to development in the unincorporated areas of the county — the ordinance says so in Section 1.4.1. If your lot is inside the City of Charleston, North Charleston, Mount Pleasant, Summerville, or Goose Creek, the county’s ZLDR does not reach it; the city’s own zoning code does. Federal ADA rules apply everywhere regardless. We work out which layer governs your lot before we mark anything.

Most lots we handle are marked in a single visit. The variables that actually move the schedule are lot size, whether the surface needs washing or repair first, how much of the lot you can close at once, and the weather — paint needs a dry surface. There’s no single interval, and anyone quoting you one hasn’t seen your lot. What drives it is traffic volume, sun exposure, and whether the markings still do their job. Two rules decide it for you: in unincorporated Charleston County, the ZLDR requires stall markings to be “visible at all times” (§9.3.7.D.2), and statewide, S.C. Code §10-5-260 requires owners to “continuously maintain” accessibility elements “safe and usable by persons with disabilities at all times” — on lots the chapter reached when they were built or altered. The same section closes with a carve-out worth knowing: “Nothing in this chapter affects in any way government buildings, public buildings, or facilities exempted by any federal law, including the Americans with Disabilities Act of 1990, as amended.”

Yes. Most commercial striping is scheduled around the property’s business hours — nights, early mornings, or weekends — because the lot has to be clear and the coating has to cure without traffic on it. Most lots get worked in sections so you keep trading rather than closing. Tell us how the property is used and when it’s busiest, and we’ll build the sequence around it.
