Pickleball, Basketball, Tennis & Playground Markings

We stripe four primary court sports plus playground games for properties across NW Pittsburgh. Pickleball courts mark to USA Pickleball specifications: 20 feet by 44 feet overall, with a 7-foot non-volley zone (kitchen) at the net and a 10-foot baseline buffer behind each baseline. Basketball courts mark to high school regulation 50 feet by 84 feet, or half-court for HOAs and parks. Tennis courts mark to standard singles (27 feet by 78 feet) or doubles (36 feet by 78 feet). Volleyball courts mark to 29.5 feet by 59 feet. We also paint playground game markings — hopscotch grids, four-square boxes with numerals, alphabet hopscotch, snake / dragon counting paths, large-scale board games like Twister and chess — for elementary schools, parks, and HOA common areas across the region.

    Tennis-to-Pickleball Conversion (PA Trend)

Tennis-to-pickleball conversion is the single most-requested sports-court conversion in NW Pittsburgh right now. A standard 60-foot by 120-foot tennis court footprint accommodates 4 regulation pickleball courts, each 20 feet by 44 feet with the required 7-foot kitchen and 10-foot baseline buffer. Two install paths exist. Overlay conversion adds the pickleball lines on top of the existing tennis layout, preserving the tennis court for shared use. Full conversion removes the tennis lines entirely (pressure-wash and re-coat the playing surface) and dedicates the court to pickleball. Both options use durable acrylic court paint. HOAs and park districts typically choose overlay first to test demand; full conversion follows once the pickleball usage hours dominate.

Playground Markings — Hopscotch, Four-Square, More

Playground game markings cover a wide range of designs. Hopscotch grids (the classic 8-square or 10-square layout) are the most common. Four-square boxes with numerals come next. Alphabet hopscotch (A-Z path) and number snakes (1 to 100 counting paths) work well for early-elementary properties. Large-scale board games — Twister, Connect Four pulled flat, chessboards — get installed at recreation centers and after-school programs. We use the same durable acrylic paint as on the sports courts, in safe non-toxic formulations approved for school-age use. Markings typically last 3 to 5 years on a covered or low-wear surface.

Striping (Lines Only) vs Court Resurfacing

There’s an important scope distinction. Striping means applying lines to an existing playable surface. Court resurfacing — which we do not perform — means removing the old surface, repairing cracks and depressions, and applying a new acrylic surface system before any lines are painted. If your court has cracks, surface bubbling, or major fading of the playing surface itself, you need resurfacing first. We will refer you to a court-resurfacing specialist before scheduling our stripe work, and then come back once the new surface is in place to lay down the lines. Most courts we stripe are 3 to 7 years into a surface system that still has plenty of life left.

Service Areas — Schools, Parks, HOAs

We stripe sports courts and playground games across Allegheny, Butler, Washington, and Beaver counties. Most call volume comes from school districts, municipal park departments, HOAs, YMCAs and rec centers, and condominium associations.

Frequently Asked Questions About Sports Court Striping in NW Pittsburgh, PA

What sports courts can you stripe in NW Pittsburgh?

We stripe pickleball courts to USA Pickleball specifications, basketball courts (high school regulation 50′ × 84′ or half-court), tennis courts (singles 27′ × 78′ / doubles 36′ × 78′), and volleyball courts (29.5′ × 59′). We also paint playground game markings — hopscotch, four-square, foursquare numerals, snake/dragon path, alphabet hopscotch, and counting grids — for elementary schools, parks, and HOA common areas.

Can you convert a tennis court to multiple pickleball courts?

Yes — and it’s the single most-requested sports-court conversion in NW Pittsburgh right now. A standard 60′ × 120′ tennis court footprint accommodates 4 regulation pickleball courts (each 20′ × 44′ with 7′ kitchen and 10′ baseline buffer). We can add the pickleball lines as overlay (preserving the tennis court for shared use) or as full conversion (removing tennis lines entirely). Both options use durable acrylic court paint.

Are your court lines USA Pickleball compliant?

Yes. USA Pickleball specifies the 20′ × 44′ overall court, 22′ × 20′ service area on each side, 7′ non-volley zone (kitchen) at the net, and 10′ baseline buffer behind the court. Line width is 2″, and color contrast must distinguish court lines from non-court markings. We layout-check every install against the current USA Pickleball Equipment Standards Manual so the court qualifies for league play and tournament hosting.

Do you stripe playground games for elementary schools?

Yes. Common requests include hopscotch grids, four-square boxes with numerals, an alphabet path, number snakes/dragons (1-100 counting), and large-scale board games like Twister, Connect Four, or chessboards. We use the same durable acrylic paint as on the sports courts, in safe non-toxic formulations for school-age use. Playground game markings typically last 3–5 years on a covered or low-wear surface.

What’s the difference between striping and court resurfacing?

Striping means applying lines to an existing playable surface. Court resurfacing — which we do not do — means removing the old surface, repairing cracks and depressions, and applying a new acrylic surface system before any lines are painted. If your court has cracks, surface bubbling, or major fading of the playing surface itself, you need resurfacing first; we’ll happily refer you to a court-resurfacing specialist before scheduling our stripe work.

How long do sports court lines last in Pittsburgh weather?

Acrylic court paint on a properly prepared surface typically lasts 5–7 years before needing refresh in NW Pittsburgh. Outdoor courts experience UV fade and freeze-thaw stress; indoor courts (school gyms, recreation centers) tend to last longer. Heavy-use courts at YMCAs, parks, and HOAs may need refresh every 4–5 years, while low-use private courts can stretch to 7–10. We can spot-touch high-wear lines (baseline, service line) without redoing the whole court. —
