Court lines are geometry with consequences. A pickleball non-volley zone that is six inches out of position changes how the game is played on that court forever, and nobody notices until a league complains.

Pickleball, Basketball, and Tennis Court Layouts

Pickleball is where most of the demand is right now, and it is the sport where dimensions get botched most often, usually because someone tried to eyeball it onto an existing surface. The USA Pickleball Official Rulebook sets the court at 20 feet by 44 feet for both singles and doubles, with the non-volley zone — the kitchen — extending 7 feet back from the net on each side. We lay out to the rulebook, and we mark the full playing surface around the court so there is room to actually play the ball.

Basketball courts get laid out to the dimensions of the governing body for the level you are playing at — the key, the three-point arc and the free-throw line differ between high school, college and international play, and the arc is the one people get wrong. Tell us the standard you need and we mark to it.

Tennis courts get laid out to the governing body’s published court dimensions, including the singles and doubles sidelines and the service boxes.

Multi-sport overlays are the most common real-world request we get: pickleball lines onto an existing tennis court, or a basketball key and a four-square grid sharing one slab. It works, and the trick is color separation and line-weight discipline so that players can read their sport’s lines and ignore everyone else’s.

Playground Markings for Schools and Parks

Playground markings are a real service and a real specialty, and we want to be straight with you about the standards question, because you will find contractors who are not.

There is no standard governing painted playground surface markings. ASTM F1487 and the Consumer Product Safety Commission’s Public Playground Safety Handbook are frequently waved around in this context, and both are genuinely important documents — but they govern playground equipment, its safe use zones, and impact-attenuating surfacing. Neither one sets a specification for the paint on the blacktop. Any contractor citing them as the authority for a hopscotch grid is stretching an equipment-safety standard into something it does not say.

So we do not cite one. What we bring instead is the work itself:

• Playground games — hopscotch, four square, tetherball circles, snakes and ladders, and mazes.
• Learning grids — number lines, alphabet grids, clock faces, world maps, keyboard layouts, and the counting and phonics grids teachers ask for by name.
• Movement and fitness markings — running tracks and loops, agility ladders, jump grids, start and finish lines.
• Sports layouts scaled for kids — half-court basketball, mini-pitch outlines, four-square courts.

Surface, Paint, and Repaint Cycles

Courts and playgrounds get painted with acrylic court paint, not the traffic paint that goes on a parking lot. It is formulated for the surface, it takes the abrasion of shoes rather than tires, and it holds color under UV.

Surface condition drives everything else. Acrylic wants a sound, clean, properly cured surface. New asphalt needs to cure before it takes paint. A surface with cracks or standing water is a surface that will shed the lines you just paid for, and we would rather tell you that at the quote than after.

Repaint frequency comes down to use and exposure. A school playground that takes 400 pairs of feet a day wears faster than an HOA court that sees a few games a week. When the lines start to go, they go visibly — and on a court, a faded line is a disputed call.
