When a Lot Needs Restriping
There is no calendar rule we are willing to publish, because the honest answer is that it depends on your lot. A shaded office lot and a high-turnover grocery lot age at completely different speeds.
What we can tell you is what to look for:
- Lines you have to look for. If a driver has to hunt for the stall boundary, they will park across it.
- Stalls people are parking wrong in. Crooked, straddled, or doubled-up parking is usually a marking problem before it is a driver problem.
- Faded accessible markings. An accessible space with a ghost of a symbol and a worn access aisle is a compliance problem sitting in the open.

How often should a parking lot be restriped?

Can you restripe over the existing layout, or does it need removal?
If the existing layout is compliant and you are happy with it, we paint straight over the old lines and you get a clean result. Removal comes into it when the layout itself is changing, because old lines showing through a new pattern confuse drivers. In that case we remove or black out the obsolete markings first.
