One of the most common questions we hear is:
“How often do I need to restripe my parking lot?”
The answer depends on a few key factors, but in general, most commercial lots in Southwest Florida should be restriped every 12–24 months. Here’s what impacts the timing:
Busy lots wear down faster. If you run a retail center or high-traffic business, you may need more frequent touch-ups than a quieter office park.
2. Weather and Environment
Sun exposure, heavy rain, and heat all affect paint longevity. In our subtropical climate, UV rays and summer storms accelerate fading.
Not all striping paint is created equal. High-quality traffic paint or thermoplastic markings last longer and offer better visibility. At 1-800-STRIPER® of Fort Myers & Naples, we use professional-grade materials designed to stand up to Florida weather.
A well-maintained asphalt surface helps paint adhere properly. If your lot is cracked, oxidized, or needs sealcoating, that can impact how well striping holds up.
If lines are visibly faded, if customers are parking outside designated spots, or if ADA markings are barely legible—it’s time to call in the pros.
A Simple Rule of Thumb:
Regular restriping is a small investment that keeps your property looking sharp, ensures safety, and avoids code violations. Think of it as routine maintenance—just like landscaping or HVAC service.
